  9. This CD ROM contains five main sections with many subsections.  The topic of 
  10. this disc is computer generated animation and graphics.  The animations and
  11. graphics have been assembled with an easy to use and very interesting Macromind
  12. Director interface.  The movies on this disc will play on Macintosh computers 
  13. as well as Windows-based PCs.

  17. Running Virtual Worlds:
  18.  
  19. Macintosh:
  20.      It is recommended to have a color monitor and at least 2 megabytes 
  21.      of free RAM.
  22.      It will not run on the Macintosh Plus, SE, Classic, or 
  23.      Macintosh Portable.
  24.      Make sure that QuickTime is installed (provided on the CD-ROM 
  25.      in the "Place contents in system folder" folder).
  26.      Double click on the Virtual Worlds icon to run the main program.

  29. PC/WINDOWS:
  30.      To play the QuickTime movies:
  31.      Windows 3.1 and MSDOS 5.0
  32.      A PC with an 80386SX or higher microprocessor
  33.      4 megabytes of RAM
  34.      VGA, Super VGA, XGA, or compatible color video graphics card
  35.      and color display.  256+ color display recommended.
  36.      Sound Card is also recommended.

  39.      From the Windows program manager, run "INST_VW.EXE" on the
  40.      root of the CD-ROM.
  41.      - OR -
  42.      From DOS we have supplied a batch file to setup the player.
  43.      Type "install" (install.BAT) at the root of this CD-ROM.
  44.      This starts Windows and installs the Virtual Worlds icon, a preview icon, 
  45.      a read me file, and a product registration form.
  46.  
  47.      Double click on any of the icons to start the desired program.  The 
  48.      Virtual Worlds and Virtual Worlds demo are self contained programs, 
  49.      where the Read Me and the Registration Form are used with the Write 
  50.      program provided with Windows.

  53.      The images and Quicktime movies that are contained within Virtual 
  54.      Worlds are also available on the CD-ROM in the "Images" and "QT_movie" 
  55.      directories.  The images can be viewed separatly through desktop 
  56.      publishing software and the Quicktime movies can be viewed through the 
  57.      "Movieplayer" provided on the CD-ROM.

  66. The idea of producing a CD collection of totally digitally produced 
  67. artwork & animation was my aim early in 1993.
  68.  
  69. Requirements: MacII & above, plays best with at least 2Mb 
  70.                        of free REAL RAM (with virtual switched off).  
  71.                        256 color 13" display.
  72.  
  73.                                             386SX or better, 256 color monitor, 4Mb free RAM,
  74.                       sound card.
  75.  
  76. Things that happen if you don't have enough free RAM: All kinds 
  77. of things slow down. Macromind Director loses some castmembers 
  78. (can result in menus disappearing - oops!)
  79.  
  80. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY THE ANIMATIONS FEATURED IN THE 'Caution 
  81. Experimental' SECTION (Mac only) UNLESS YOU HAVE AT LEAST 
  82. 16 MEG FREE RAM AND A VERY FAST (BY 1993 STANDARDS) PROCESSOR.
  83. This section is not playable on PC computers(yet).

  85. SOME ANIMATIONS NEED YOUR MONITOR TO SWITCH TO DIFFERENT COLOUR 
  86. DEPTHS - CHECK COMPATABILITY SOME ANIMATIONS WILL TAKE A LONG,LONG,LONGGGGGG TIME TO LOAD TO YOUR RAM FROM THE CD.
